For some of us spring may still be a few weeks away, but as we begin this (slow) transition into a fresh, new season, I've been pining over the playful, bold hues that make up a citrus colour palette.
Citrus colours are a lot of fun to decorate with; they make a big statement in small quantities and coordinate with almost any backdrop. I love using a citrus coloured accessory with a neutral piece of furniture.
This month, I've tracked down a few of my favourite citrus accent ideas to share with you.
The main accent colour in this design was blue, but a pop of citrus green helps bring the design to life:
Orange is a great alternative to the once popular red accent colour. I love this orange and turquoise pillow that was placed on four chairs in this formal living room for a beautiful pop of colour:
I love the yellow & white coloured bedding in this master bedroom, especially on the dark bed frame. It has a tinge of a green undertone, making it more mature and less 'lemon-kitchen-yellow':
But, you don’t have to limit yourself to citrus accents and accessories only! This gorgeous mid-century modern chair is beautiful upholstered in a bold yellow-orange colour:
You can also use citrus accents in other rooms in your home. This custom shower curtain makes a beautiful statement in a guest bathroom. The fabric has turquoise and chartreuse hues that bring colour into this serene bathroom:
If you're looking for some citrusy items for yourself, here are some of my favs:
Styles 70"x55" Ochre Throw Blanket: Crate & Barrel
Sphere Set of 3 - Lime and Sprite: Wayfair
Authentic Decorative Books - By Colour - Modern Beach: Wayfair
Damask Orange & Natural Throw Pillow: Pier 1
So what do you think? Do you love citrus colours for decorating? I find these hues incredibly refreshing as we transition into springtime.
If you need a hand working these colours (or any other favourites) into your décor, give me a call, I would love to help!
Much love,
Sara
